From Heart to Hands Symbol
“The most exciting social network for poets and writers…” or so the adverts keep telling me.

After seeing that familiar purple background on a number of feeds, Her Heart jumped into action and downloaded the Mirkee app ǀ @mirakeeapp so that we could give you our thoughts.

Pros

Very Easy to Use
The interface of this app is very easy. The entire process to post has been streamlined and getting your words on a post, and then setting it to your requirements can be done quickly with little or no hassle. There are a variety of font and background colour options and preset combinations to choose from. It is very intuitive and you can be up and running within minutes.

Potential Early Adopter Benefits
It already has 10,000+ downloads. The potential for early adopter benefits are huge with such a new application. If this survives it’s first year, there is a real possibility that anyone who adopts now and works hard to build networks will see real dividends in later years with big follower numbers and wide exposure.

Words, Wonderful Words
It is just about the poetry! You can’t be fooled by pretty images when there are no pretty images to be found. We love that this is truly about the words and what you do with them.  Update: Mirakee have updated the app to now include your own images.

Friendships
Time and again we have seen posts from people about the friends that they have made on Mirakee. We aren’t sure why this is, we haven’t experienced it ourselves, but suspect it is due to its new status and smaller pool of poets. This app really does seem to have empowered the ‘social’ aspect of the social network, which we think is fantastic.

Great User Feedback
It has a 4.7 star rating in the Google Play Store and according to Keyla Moura ǀ @keyla_cmoura, one of Her Heart’s fantastic Featured Writers:

“Mirakee is a wonderful Android app for anyone who loves to write. It’s very simple to use and all the features like different font styles and colors are very accessible. You also have the option of editing and deleting your posts whenever you choose. It’s a great platform that showcases writing and connects writers from all over the world.”

Cons

It’s Not Instagram (or Twitter…or Wattpad…)
Mirakee has 10,000+ downloads, but this does not compare to the number of poetry accounts on Instagram, or accounts that belong to potential readers. If the goal is to publicize your work as widely as possible, Mirakee is just more work with very limited exposure.

No IOS Access
You can’t download it to IOS. If you don’t have Android, then you don’t have Mirakee. This is a huge limitation. Mirakee does plan to offer this on IOS in future and we will update our article when this happens.

It May Not Survive
Apps come and go. We are just starting to review the many poetry apps available and have already listed five in our Features Directory. Mirakee is on the lower end of downloads and this competition means that it may not survive in the long run.

Mirakee Adverts in your Feed
To fast track a feature on The Writers Network, Read Write Unite and Mirakee app Instagram pages, you may be asked to post an advert on your Instagram account for Mirakee.

Her Heart’s Evaluation

Best for: Poets who have a word-focused creative style, enjoy easy-to-use apps and have time to invest in a social network in it’s infancy.
Worst for: Anyone on IOS or those with limited time on their hands.
Download it if: You have an Android device, additional time on your hands and can stay in it for the long haul.

We would love to hear about your experience with Mirakee! We have been using the app for six weeks and these are our initial impressions. We would appreciate feedback if you use the app regularly. Please leave a comment below.

  1. Hi there,
I have been using Mirakee for a few months now. Me was one of the first few 100 to download the app when they first went live in June 2016.
I won’t deny that Mirakee may not have many awesome features like Insta or wattapad, etc. Nevertheless, the start-up’s done really good for a newbie on the market😎
What last heard is that they are soon introducing an iOS version of the same. Lest we forgot, a majority of us still use Android handsets and with close to 10k downloads, the numbers speak for themselves☺
Mirakee is a serious platform for budding writers. So you are planning to treat Mirakee as Facebook or some socialising/bonding app, you will surely be disappointed😛
The app has undergone some cosmetic changes of late. Pics can be included and font sizes have been enhanced.
Do take a look at the same when you find time.
    Have a pleasant Sunday. Tc😊
