The Lanturne (also known as the Lanterne and Lantern) is a five line poem originating from Japan. It has the syllable pattern 1,2,3,4,1.

Once the poem is written, the words are centered on the line to create the shape of a Japanese lantern. Thus giving the form it’s name.
