As a boy from Iowa, USA, growing up in a broken home with a broken family, Samuel was no stranger to emotional dysfunction not the least of which was severe depression. Long and brutally cold winters wherein he was forced indoors for weeks on end certainly did not help matters, either. Whether he took up writing out of sheer boredom or as a natural instinct to preserve his own sanity, he still does not know, but since he was old enough to pick up a crayon, words have not ceased to flow through him. Thirty-one years later, he has only just begun to find his own voice, but as long as he has wax, lead, or ink at his disposal, he will not cease to make it heard.
