To say that Claire Bunnik, also known as @armadaclairewriting, is a fountain of words and poetry would be a massive understatement, because she’s much more on par with the force and natural grandeur of a poetic geyser! Of all the submissions we received for The Annual, Claire was the only poet to submit more than 20 unique pieces, four of which are included in this year’s anthology. Rest assured, though: you will be seeing much more of her beautiful writing in future publications. 😉

Pocket Love is included in the third section of this year’s anthology, titled ‘The Significance of Significants,’ because it’s such a personal and tragic account of an experience with relationships. Reading poetry like this would rarely be described as “a treat,” but that doesn’t mean these works are any less important. The beauty of poetry is that it can take the most difficult subjects – subjects which are nearly impossible to discuss out loud for the emotions they evoke – and turn them into understandable and relatable accounts that inspire strength and compassion in others.

The fact that Claire can take such a painful experience and communicate it to us in a way that doesn’t simply make sense, but is eloquent and rhythmic and undeniably charming for its clever use of rhyming… well, it’s no surprise that her work was selected by both of this year’s judges.

Show Claire your support by visiting her Instagram page and reading her other outstanding works. You could read a poem every single day and still have reading to do this time next year, so take advantage! Drop her a comment or direct message if you can, and then don’t forget to swing by our webstore to pick up your own copy of The Annual where you can enjoy Claire’s three other poems.

  1. Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up and let you know a few of the images aren’t loading correctly. I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different internet browsers and both show the same outcome.
