Her Heart Poetry presents the creative duo, Flash 365 ǀ @flash_365. Their work graces the cover of Vol. 2 ǀ Issue 3 ~ Howl at the Moon. A word with Flash 365, “One story, one picture, per day for one year” Flash 365 is a collaborative project between a writer, Benjamin Davis, and an artist, Nikita Klimov. We met and now live together in Saint Petersburg, Russia. In October 2016 we decided to challenge ourselves: can we write a story and make a picture every day for one year? Each day Benjamin writes a story, then sends it to Nikita who draws a picture based on that story. He sends that picture back and we post it to our website. We are both in our twenties, both working simultaneously. Nikita is a web designer and Benjamin is a Teacher. A lot of our inspiration comes from the city around us and the…

ARTIST ǀ Galen Ivey

Her Heart Poetry presents Galen Ivey ǀ @galenivey. His work graces the cover of Vol. 2 ǀ Issue 1 ~ The Best of Me. A word with Galen: When I was thirteen years old, I was blessed to be able to work on the set of a music video, and I loved the work that I performed there. The owner of the video company and I became great friends – and still are today – and it was this gentleman that opened up my mind to the joys of photography. It was the first time in which I realized how much I enjoyed photography, but it also sparked in me the realization that I could follow my dreams, and I could be successful if I only worked hard enough, and was dedicated to my craft. To this day, I still thank my great friend for helping me to start upon my…

To nominate an account please leave a comment below with the account handle and one or two sentences about why you believe the account and poet should be featured.  Self-nominations will also be accepted. All nominations will be considered. Nominations are open until 31 December 2016.

ARTIST ǀ David Hurley

Her Heart Poetry presents David Hurley ǀ @davidhurleyillustration. His work graces the cover of our December 2016 Anthology. Etcetera Etcetera – The work of David Hurley I am always looking for new outlets of expression my work and use various different media including painting, collage, animation, text, sculpture, video, installation and performance. A fair degree of experimentation always helps to keep everything fresh and enjoyable. However, although the media changes from time to time there are always underlying elements that tie everything together. A key component in my work is the sporadic way in which we receive information, in our daily lives, now more than ever, and how all of these different elements collide to create a complex whole. Ideas such as identity and the past are themes that inform the works, and flashes of a memory or a familiarity litter the pieces, causing them to be fragmented whilst at the same…

ARTIST ǀ Haydee Suarez

Her Heart Poetry presents Haydee Suarez ǀ @hi_haydz. You will see her work on the cover of our November 2016 anthology.     A word with Haydee: I am a Cum Laude, Painting Major graduate from University of the Philippines (2007). Back then, I needed money for tuition so I worked as a part-time book illustrator while studying. After graduating, I then worked as a Graphic Designer for different publishing and media companies. Currently, I am a Senior Graphic Designer for a Philippine Channel called 2nd Avenue. I have learned that being an artist in a third world country is hard, if you didn’t have connections, friends with curators or gallery owners. But I still wanted to express myself and to share my work with other people. So social media, like Instagram had became the best option for me. I work with pen, ink and digital drawings. My influences came from creating book…

ARTIST ǀ Monique Oliver

Her Heart Poetry presents Monique Oliver ǀ @moniqueoliverart. Her work graces the cover of our October 2016 Anthology. A word with Monique: Born in Hawaii, under a water sign, but raised in the UK, it was many years before I returned, but looking out the plane window and counting 7 rainbows across the sky, I fell in love before touch down. A year later I had to return to the UK so I left, not knowing if I would ever make it back. 9 years on and not a day goes by that I don’t think about my time there. Discovering painting last year, I knew within minutes of first picking up a brush I had finally found my calling and a whole new world opened up. Health issues prevent extended periods of brushwork and the fluid art allows me longer painting time. Offers started coming in fast and right now I have…
